"Wake Up Cinderella" by New Jersey's The Deep Drags is a subtle warning wrapped in a nice musical package. The opening toy piano and vibrating guitar immediately grab you...Kenny Sandler's lead vocal delivery is subdued but speaks louder than a scream. Patti Rothberg's choice of chorus and guitar tone gives power to the message. This is an extremely well-thought out and well crafted song that will get your attention, and it should!"

The Deep Drags are a blend of retro rock-n-roll with a modern indie feel, combining the sound of the 1960's British Invasion with 1980's Garage Rock & Power/Psych Pop. Founded by songwriter, bassist and lead vocalist Kenny Sandler, the band features former EMI recording artist Patti Rothberg (Guitar/ Vocals), with Jim Lebo (Drums) and Chris Capra (Guitar). The Deep Drags' music has been played in over 45 countries, with many of their single releases charting on worldwide weekly Top 10 indie radio station playlists, including seven #1 hits such as "Gimme Some Lip" "Snoozin Tree Lane", "Hot Summer City Girl", "Dullards", "Creepy Girl", "Karma is a Cruel, Cruel Mistress", and "Forgotten Man". The Radio Indie Alliance Top 100 Indie Songs of the Week include "Snoozin Tree Lane " #4, "Hot Summer City Girl" #12, "Dullards" #15, "Karma is a Cruel, Cruel Mistress" #26 and "You Don't Know Love" #42. Their 2025 summer hit, "Hot Summer City Girl" climbed to #14 on the World Indie Music Charts. In early 2024, the band was nominated by Hugs WRRG Radio in three categories, Best New Group, Best Band and Best Song (Wake Up Cinderella). Several of The Deep Drags singles have been featured nationally on Sirius/XM's "Little Steven's Underground Garage", and they were invited to perform their warm, yet bold indie rock at the 2024 and 2025 International Pop Overthrow Festival in NYC.

The song captures the carefree mood of summer nights, rooftop settings and street life where the singer is drawn to her style, sway, and mysterious allure, hinting at a romantic or flirtatious fascination with this ‘hot summer city girl’. To date, Hot Summer City Girl hit #1 on two radio station Top 10 weekly playlists, and charted on another dozen stations' weekly Top 10. The track landed at #14 on the World Indie Music Charts and according to the Radio Indie Alliance, it hit #12 on their top 100 songs of the week and has been played internationally in over a dozen countries.
